I'm just sewing out my stress.

Baby Quilt #2 of the Week January 3, 2011

These were finished in November for a show.  Yes, two in a week was lots of work for me.  I’ve been busy working on lots of other projects to get these out into the world.

This would be a great quilt for a nursery.

Yesterday during the last Sunday of regular season football I was able to get three quilts cut and ready to be pieced.  Let’s hope I can get one finished this week and my 2011 project block.

Another Baby Quilt January 2, 2011

A few months ago I wrote about the fabric that I picked up in NYC.  Here is what was inspired.

Colors are black, white and green.

The backing fabric is from the fabric district in NYC. Saw it and fell in love. Designed the quilt while on the train to Coney Island on the 4th of July.

Fabric from the NYC fabric district.

Here’s to hoping this new quilt finds a loving home.

I LOVE making baby quilts.  A very good family friend asked me to create a signature square quilt for the arrival of her grand daughter.  She wanted greens and pinks.  With this quilt I have officially gone through my bright pink fabric stash.

I started with a 1.5″ and 2.5″ strips of a variety of fabrics.  Each square was completely different.

Needless to say grandma was happy with the end result.

Congrats!!!!

One of my favorite quilts went to our good friend’s son upon his arrival into this world.  Today he is  turning 1.  Where did this year go??

When he first got the quilt.

Isn’t he just adorable all snuggled down into his swing and his new Gator’s quilt.

Apparently people would stop her and ask where she got the quilt, they do live in Gainesville.  Too bad for me that there are rules and regulations to using licensed fabric.

Here he is packing his bag for school.  He’s growing up so fast.

Well, I had to folks.  I had used up my stash with a baby quilt and needed enough for the binding.  No worries I only purchased a half yard.

So far I’ve been good this entire month.  My quilt shop is even having a big sale right now that I’m avoiding.  I can do this

Okay we are half way through the month of September.  So far I have avoided purchasing any fabric.  15 MORE DAYS!!!!  I can do this.

The Holidays are really coming up quickly.  Today has been more of a maintenance day.  I took my machine apart and really worked to get the lint out, replace needles, and clean my area.  BTW…be warned if you Google images of LINT.  This was the best representation of what was inside my machine.

There will be a sewing marathon on Saturday.  I wanted to be as ready as possible.  Here is a list of what I will be working on:

  • Moda Fruitcake potholders
  • Getting quilting designs on two quilts I have ready to go
  • Complete the top to a baby/signature quilt

The next two weekends are really busy and my first show is October 16th.

This week has been awesome.  I started a new job and I’m doing some off hours for training.  The best part is in two weeks I’ll be working 3pm-11pm so I can spend my mornings sewing.

Here is what I have been working to finalize all this week:

Custom Baby Quilt

I have everything ready to go on a couple more quilts, just need to sit down and do them.  I don’t have three days this week to just sit and sew.
